Volumetric Beverage Can Filling Machine
When filling carbonated or non-carbonated beverages into cans, controlling oxygen pickup and maintaining CO₂ levels are critical to preserve product stability and shelf life. A rotary filler with volumetric dosing allows you to achieve consistent fill levels while maintaining controlled filling conditions at industrial production speeds
Fill cans with controlled volume, CO₂ retention and low oxygen pickup
The can filling system from Ferrum Group is a rotary volumetric filling machine designed for beverage production lines ranging from low-capacity setups to high-speed industrial operations. The system uses volumetric filling technology, ensuring precise and repeatable dosing across different beverage types such as beer, soft drinks, energy drinks, and flavoured water.
During operation, cans are transported into the rotary carousel where filling valves dose the product under controlled pressure conditions. This process is engineered to minimise total package oxygen (TPO), which is critical for maintaining product freshness, especially in oxygen-sensitive beverages such as beer. At the same time, the system maintains stable CO₂ content, ensuring that carbonation levels remain consistent across all filled cans.
The filler is typically integrated as part of a filler-seamer block, where filling and seaming are synchronised in a continuous process. This reduces transfer time between operations and limits exposure to air, further supporting low oxygen pickup. The system supports a range of can diameters, heights, and lid types, with dedicated lid feeding systems matched to the line capacity.
Ferrum can fillers are designed for production capacities from approximately 12,000 up to 30,000 cans per hour, depending on line configuration. The machines are built with a high degree of automation, allowing stable operation with minimal manual intervention and reduced downtime.
The system integrates with upstream depalletising and rinsing equipment and downstream pasteurising, labelling, and packaging systems. This makes it suitable both for new canning lines and retrofits of existing production setups.
