Vertical Form Fill Seal Machine for Granular Product Packaging
When packaging granular products such as grains, nuts, or coffee beans, dosing accuracy depends on weight-based control rather than volume. A vertical form fill seal machine with integrated weighing allows you to produce consistent bag weights while maintaining high throughput.
Weigh, fill, and seal granular products into bags
The automatic vertical packing machine (AVP) from Omniprojekt is a fully automated form-fill-seal system designed for packaging granular products into self-forming bags. The machine forms bags from flat film, doses product by weight, seals the pouch, and discharges finished packs in a continuous or sequential process.
Film is pulled over a forming collar, creating a tubular structure that is sealed longitudinally and transversely to form the bag. Product dosing is carried out using an electronic weighing system with load cells, where material is fed into weighing containers via vibratory feeders.
The dosing process is controlled in two stages: coarse dosing for fast filling, followed by fine dosing to reach the target weight with high accuracy. Once the set weight is reached, the dosing flap opens and the product is discharged into the formed bag. This method ensures precise and repeatable filling, especially for free-flowing granular products.
The machine supports various bag formats, including pillow bags, gusseted bags, and stabilo formats, with sizes determined by interchangeable collar and tube assemblies. Film widths up to 420 mm can be processed, and format changes are performed by replacing the collar set.
With capacities of up to 40 bags per minute (approx. 2,400 bags/hour), the system is suitable for food applications such as coffee beans, rice, cereals, nuts, seeds, sugar, and frozen products.
A feeding system with vibro conveyors and optional cassette conveyor ensures a consistent supply of product to the weighing system. The machine is controlled via a PLC with HMI, allowing adjustment of dosing parameters, sealing temperature, and process monitoring. Sensor systems track machine performance, and remote access supports diagnostics and optimisation.
Optional modules such as checkweighing, inert gas flushing, and printing systems can be added to improve quality control, shelf life, and traceability.
