Double-Lane Thermoforming Blister Packaging Machine for Tablets and Capsules
When you package pharmaceutical tablets or capsules in blister packs, the packaging line must maintain sealing integrity, high repeatability, and fast product changeovers. A compact thermoforming blister machine helps you stabilise packaging quality while supporting frequent format changes in multi-product pharmaceutical production.
Form, fill and seal pharmaceutical blister packs
The Trinity blister packaging machine from Accupack Engineering is a servo-driven thermoforming system designed for pharmaceutical blister packaging lines requiring reliable output and compact machine layout. The machine operates in a double-lane configuration and can achieve production speeds of up to 240 blisters per minute, making it suitable for medium-capacity pharmaceutical packaging environments.
Blister cavities are formed from thermoforming films such as PVC, PVC/PVDC, duplex, triplex laminates, PVC/Aclar and PP, enabling the packaging of moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical products. The machine seals the formed blisters using a platen sealing principle, which applies uniform pressure across the sealing area to ensure consistent blister integrity.
The forming station supports blister depths of up to 12 mm, allowing the packaging of different tablet sizes and capsule formats. Maximum blister pack dimensions reach 252 mm length and 90 mm width, providing flexibility for various cavity layouts within one tooling set. The system operates with forming speeds of up to 40 cycles per minute and cutting speeds of up to 120 strokes per minute depending on pack configuration.
The machine architecture follows a cGMP-compliant balcony design, separating the product handling area from mechanical components to simplify cleaning and maintenance. Multiple feeding solutions can be integrated depending on the product format, while the machine layout allows integration with downstream cartoning equipment and serialization systems.
With tool-less format changeovers, operators can switch between blister formats faster, which is particularly valuable in pharmaceutical plants producing multiple SKUs.
